My situation and needs
My name is Giles, I am 55 years old. A few years ago, I had a brain tumor that resulted in hemiparesis affecting my left hand, wrist, and forearm. I have difficulty opening and closing my fingers, my grip speed is limited, and certain everyday activities such as eating and cooking have become more challenging. Despite this, I am very active: swimming, fitness training, mountain hiking, and cycling. My daily challenge is to continue these activities without overloading my right arm, while keeping my left upper limb as active as possible. It was in this context that my occupational therapist introduced me to the Lynk System at the end of 2024. We tried it immediately, as I was looking for a solution that would allow me to remain active despite my limitations.
How I experience activities differently now
From the very first trials, I felt a real difference in how I was able to use my left arm during physical effort. The Lynk System fits easily into my routine. When hiking in the mountains, it allows me to rely on my poles without fearing that my hand will slip, making descents safer. During fitness training and cycling, I can focus on the activity itself without thinking about every movement of my hand or worrying about losing my grip. In the kitchen, it also helps me prepare meals more easily, for example when cutting food.
My experience after 8 months of use
Today, I am once again able to hike in the mountains for 3 to 4 hours with significant elevation gain, something I no longer thought possible. The Lynk System helps me reduce fatigue, avoid harmful compensatory movements that could lead to injury, and continue using my left arm, both in sports and in everyday activities such as cooking, cutting food, and preparing meals.
For me, this system represents the ability to remain the active person I have always been, while maintaining my independence. It provides safety, confidence, and the freedom to continue doing what I love.

What is the Lynk System?
This modular and functional orthosis was developed for people who have limited grip function or need to protect their wrist. It is particularly helpful that it is very easy to use—the magnetic closure makes it easy to put on and take off. In addition, the orthosis is very light, weighing less than 250 grams. Furthermore, both professionals and users can use the aid very flexibly. Thanks to the standard sizes, the system is available immediately. If necessary, it can also be offered as a custom-made product.
