My situation and needs
My name is Luca, I am 9 years old and was born with a shortened forearm. I manage quite well on my own in everyday life. My hobbies include cycling, kayaking, and badminton. I was looking for good support for these activities and came across the Explorer System. I mainly use it for cycling with the bike module, but also for kayaking with the twin module and for badminton with the ball module.
How I experience activities differently now
It is particularly important to me that the prosthesis is lightweight and breathable so that I feel comfortable during all my sporting activities. Thanks to the Explorer prosthesis, I can sit upright on my bike and enjoy longer bike rides with my parents. When kayaking with the Twin module, I can grip the paddle securely and apply my strength in a targeted manner. This allows me to cover longer distances on the water and enjoy nature. When playing badminton with the ball module, I can hold the ball and throw it into the air in a controlled manner. This allows me to concentrate fully on my serve.
My experience after 2 years of use
I have been using the Explorer System since 2022 and am very satisfied! The great thing about it is the lacing system, which can be stretched a little. This means I can decide for myself how tightly the support should fit on my arm. For me, my prosthesis is like a practical aid with a great design. It is easy to use and its modularity motivates me to do various activities.
What is the Explorer System?
This modular and functional prosthesis was developed for people who have lost their grip function. It is particularly helpful because it is very easy to use—the lacing system-based closure makes it easy to put on and take off. In addition, the prosthesis is very light, weighing less than 350 grams. Furthermore, both specialists and users can use the aid very flexibly. If necessary, it can also be offered as a custom-made product.
