My situation and needs
My name is Tom, I am 12 years old and was born with a shortened forearm. I can do all everyday things pretty much on my own. My hobbies are playing soccer, skateboarding, and cycling—I was looking for support for these activities and found the Explorer System. I mainly use it for cycling, but also for archery.
How I experience activities differently now
It is particularly important to me that I can put on and take off the shaft (which is part of my prosthesis) very easily. It is also good that it is very light. This makes it easier for me to ride a bike. With my prosthesis, I have learned to use many different bikes and ride more easily. This is also because I can now sit better on the bike. I really enjoy riding in the woods, jumping over obstacles along the way, riding well through curves, and staying on the bike much longer.
My experience after 12 months of use
I've been using an Explorer System since 2022 and it works great! After more than a year, I only had to replace the socket once because I grew. This cool thing has a lacing system and can stretch a little. That way, I can decide for myself how tight the socket should fit on my arm. I really like my prosthesis—it's like a cool aid with a great design. It's easy to use, which motivates me to always enjoy wearing it.

This modular and functional prosthesis was developed for people who have lost their grip function. It is particularly helpful because it is very easy to use—the lacing system-based closure makes it easy to put on and take off.
