My situation and needs

My name is Sophia, and I am 17 years old. Three years ago, I had a serious accident in which my left hand was severed but successfully reattached. Nevertheless, its function is limited, and I now have difficulties in everyday life. The accident also left me with a walking disability and I am dependent on crutches, which I find difficult to grip because of my hand injury. This prompted me to look for a solution that would enable me to grip a crutch properly with my left hand to make walking easier.

How I experience activities differently now

In 2022, a friend introduced me to macu4. She had an Explorer System prosthesis and thought it might be suitable for me too. After contacting macu4, we worked together to adapt the system to my needs, even though I still have my hand. The result was the Lynk system, which I have been using happily ever since. It allows me to walk around school without a wheelchair, move more freely, and regain my independence. It also helps me train more evenly at the gym and improve the strength of my left arm.

My experience after 1 year of use

Since I started using the Lynk system, I have gained much more freedom. Whether carrying objects, supporting my arm, or enjoying hobbies such as playing musical instruments and cycling, the system has changed my life. It is a great solution for anyone with similar challenges, and I am very grateful for the support it gives me in everyday life.

What is the Lynk System?

This modular and functional orthosis was developed for people who have limited grip function or need to protect their wrist. It is particularly helpful that it is very easy to use—the magnetic closure makes it easy to put on and take off. In addition, the orthosis is very light, weighing less than 250 grams. Furthermore, both professionals and users can use the aid very flexibly. Thanks to the standard sizes, the system is available immediately. If necessary, it can also be offered as a custom-made product.
