Badminton with orthosis or prosthesis
Assistive aid in badminton, e.g., to balance a ball and throw it up.
Request productBadminton is fast, light and sociable, a game of quick wrists and quicker feet that's as good in the back garden as it is on court.
It comes down to the racquet hand: holding the racquet firmly enough that it doesn't shift on contact while staying loose enough to flick and swing. For people with limited hand or arm function, keeping that hold isn't always easy, and a racquet that turns at the wrong moment is often the one thing keeping someone off the court. The right aid restores a proper connection to the racquet, so your focus can stay on the game.
Explorer Modules
How Explorer Modules Support This Activity
For badminton, the setup is the Explorer System fitted with the Twin Module. The Explorer is macu4's lightweight 3D-printed system: a socket, the Explorer Ring as the coupling component, and a module matched to the activity, weighing under 300 g so there's very little extra load on the arm. The Twin Module fixes the racquet handle in place so it stays put through the swing rather than twisting on contact with the shuttle, with a swivel head that lets the racquet follow the natural arc of a shot. It holds the handle in a defined position so the racquet sits the same way each time you set up to hit, and it's sturdy enough for the quick, repeated movements of a rally. It comes in two sizes with an adjustable swivel head and can be configured with or without length compensation: a built-in spacer matches the prosthetic side's reach to your other arm, worked out during measurement. When your affected side can hold the racquet properly, your swing stays even and you can play proper shots with real technique.
"Thanks to the Ball Module, I can finally practice playing badminton—this has not only changed my game, but also my motivation for this leisure activity."
